The Guatemalan mask, carved from wood, is made in the image of one of the main and most significant ancient deities of the Mayan mythology — Kukulkan. In most cases, it is depicted as a feathered serpent. The bird on the mask is Quetzal — the main national symbol of the country. Since it does not live in captivity, being the personification of freedom and independence. Ancient Indians considered quetzal was a sacred bird. Masks like this can be purchased at souvenir shops in Central America, especially on Lake Atitlan. This mask was brought to me by my best friend Alex. There is a belief that such a mask protects the house from trouble. Optimized and cleaned topology and baked 4k textures. Scan made for #SouvenirsChallenge
