http://www.solidsmack.com/contests/solidsmack-awesome-sauce-design-contest This is my entry to SolidSmack Awesome Sauce Design Competition. LEGO bricks were invented by Ole Kirk Christiansen in the year 1934.(Thank You very much for inventing this awesome brick) While reading the competition details, the one thing that stood out was the theme "What inspires young people to pursue careers in engineering and design." So I thought what inspired me to take up mechanical engineering? hmmm................. My answers: 1. Tom and Jerry(it had awesome contraptions like the one GrabCAD community is creating Rube Goldberg Experiment) 2. Toys cars(Hot Wheels, RC cars etc.) 3. The word ENGINEER(I wasn’t able to pronounce it when I was young, so I thought it would be awesome to be one) 4. Computers..................(we all know why) 5. LEGO(This had a major impact on the way I looked at various shapes, on my design skills etc.) LEGO helps youngsters in many ways, like designing buildings, furniture, bridges, car, planes, ships........ etc. the list is endless. I feel with LEGO its like "If you can imagine it, you can build it." I know it can’t be counted as my own design, but I cannot think of any other thing which inspired more children to take up engineering then this humble brick. So I made a bigger brick out of small bricks...........;-)....just to enter this competition . I don’t know where it stands in Creativity, Quality, Sauciness or Manufacturability.............. but when it comes to inspiring young minds..... .....I wouldn’t be wrong if I say that the LEGO brick inspired millions..............:-)
