The Incredible Egg Topper (cracker)

What is an Egg Topper? An egg topper is a device that is designed to create a round hole in the top of a soft boiled egg so it can be spooned out for a lovely breakfast. I don't think I ever had a soft boiled egg before last weekend... I was trying to find something unique to add to Thingiverse and this seemed like it would be a fun challenge. Most egg toppers are metal... will it work? I think this is a definite "must print" because the testing is so fun!!! Print Settings Printer Brand: LulzBot Printer: TAZ 5 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: .25 Infill: 95% Notes: I used ABS but I think PLA is more rigid and would probably work better. I used a lot of fill in the hope it would be solid and transmit the energy to the egg shell. How I Designed This Random build notes... The design uses a rubber band to create the powerful smacking motion that cracks the round hole in the egg. Similar to commercial toppers, you often have to snap the egg a few times to separate the top shell. On occasion another part of the egg cracks. I think the main design improvement would be creating a sharper cutting edge. I postponed the sharp edge when I was having problems with bed adhesion. It does work as-is but a sharper edge would probably yield a cleaner cut/break. The goal is to create a perfectly round hole. Have fun!
