Two-thousand pounds of copper and tin cast by John Pass and John Stow, the bell was created to commemorate the first reading of the Declaration of Independence on July 8, 1776. The crack occurred seventy years later on George Washington's birthday, as a result of a previous imperfection which had been repaired. The bell has since been adopted as an iconic symbol for independence and liberty, and thus termed, "The Liberty Bell." This 3D print will show the words for larger-sized prints. The words are as follows: Pass and Stow Philadelphia MDCCLII and at the top, it says, "Proclaim Liberty through all the land unto all inhabitants thereof," from the Book of Leviticus.
