The Modular Desk Organizing System

This is my desk organizer aimed to making virtual school easier for all students. It features helpful modules that cover almost all the needs of a virtual student and can be arranged in any order that a student desires. All moving parts have tolerances to work in the real world and be a completely functional and helpful addition to any students virtual learning setup. The modules also attach using dovetails so that no additional parts are needed to connect the blocks and they can be taken apart and rearranged as desired. An issue I faced while designing was trying to make my organizer useful and appealing to as many people as possible. I overcame this by making many modules so that there is something useful for everyone. Students can choose as many modules as they need and arrange them how they want, it is completely customizable. I also included a subtle hexagon theme that ties all the modules together while not being too over the top, which hopefully also appeals to the masses. If I had a chance to redesign this project I would consider coming up with even more modules and try to make them a bit more aesthetically pleasing. The current design is somewhat blocky and could be improved. Overall however, I am very pleased with my design. 3D Printing would be helpful in my designing so I could test prototypes and perfect my tolerances on things like the drawers and dove tails. It would be great to be able to make sure everything works 100% as I intended. I also made it a major priority to make my design as 3D printable as possible. For that reason, the modules are based off of 70mm by 70mm cubes so that multiple can fit on a print bed. Furthermore, almost all overhangs were kept under 45 degrees so that the parts can be printed with close to zero support material. Also, for students looking to use this organizer, they can have the modules they want in a matter of a few hours with the use of 3D printers. I have included a file of a blank block so anyone can create their own modules to fit seamlessly with the existing ones.
