Stratasys & KeyShot Gaming Mouse Design Competition - EnglerThe inspiration for the mouse comes primarily from the Razor Basilisk, the adaptations to the shape and material improve ergonomics. The style is intended to marry gaming with luxury. The side rest nestles your thumb inside the soft bumped material for comfort and ease of movement. Having your thumb nestled will allow for lighter gripping on the mouse body. The soft bumped material on the side rest is mirrored to the top surfaces of the mouse - transitioning between materials of hard and soft plastic will show the capabilities of the Polyjet Printer. Intricate design details such as the swooping cuts and subtle bumps on the gripping areas also show the subtle details that make a Polyjet 3D printed design appear more like a final product.Utilization of the Tango simulated rubber, FDM TPU 92A, or Argilus for the grips will give the finalized prototype a simulated look and feel to the potential final product. For the “painted” areas, the Vervoflex material line would be sufficient to accurately simulate the finished look desired for this prototype. There are several translucent materials that could be utilized for the areas intended to allow light to shine through, however, my choice material would be the VeroUltraClears which allow a 95% light transmission rate.
