The PlanterBot robot continuously monitors the condition of a plant in real time by tracking if it receives sufficient water, adequate light and optimal warmth. With capacitance sensing technology, the PlanterBot can accurately detect the presence or absence of moisture within the soil without any wires inserted directly into the plant's soil. A fully functioning prototype for the PlanterBot is now available on Instructables at http://www.instructables.com/id/Planterbot-The-Plant-Monitoring-Robot/.
