Prehistoric carved bedrock on private farmland in The Ringses area of Doddington Moor, E of Doddington, Northumberland. This small area of exposed outcrop is one of a number of carvings east of the The Ringses multivallate Iron Age hillfort. Referenced ‘The Ringses 4a’ on the Beckensall Archive (BA), the carving was added to ERA by NADRAP in 2008. The BA describes three cups whilst NADRAP note two. Is there an extremely faint ring around the large cup, or has the rocks natural topography been used to give the impression of a ring?? Historic England scheduling: https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1418072 ERA & BA info: https://archaeologydataservice.ac.uk/era/section/panel/overview.jsf?eraId=31 Model created from 2 stereo pairs captured by Joe Gibson (NADRAP Team 3) in March 2007.
