Prehistoric carved bedrock on private farmland in The Ringses area of Doddington Moor, E of Doddington, Northumberland. This area of exposed outcrop is one of a number of carvings east of the The Ringses multivallate Iron Age hillfort. Referenced ‘The Ringses 6e’ on the Beckensall Archive (BA) and described as having a single cup. NADRAP added the record to ERA in 2008. Has the carver placed the cup centrally in an area to give the impression of an irregular ‘natural’ ring? Best viewed in Matcap. Historic England scheduling: https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1418072 ERA & BA info: https://archaeologydataservice.ac.uk/era/section/panel/overview.jsf?eraId=35 Model created from a single stereo pair captured by Joe Gibson (NADRAP Team 3) in March 2007. The imagery forms part of the ERA / NADRAP archive deposited with Historic England & Northumberland County Council.
