The simplest spool holder

The simplest spool holder

thingiverse

Update: this thing has been superceded by my newer version located: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:323930 I'm a fan of simple and easy to make, so after looking at overly-complicated spool holders, I decided to make my own. I took my dimensions from the SainSmart ABS spool and after making about 20 prints with a spool on this holder I can say that it works perfectly. This is the simplest, fully functional spool holder on Thingiverse. No unneccesary rounds, no fillets, no cutouts, nothing. Just a pure, simple, functional design. Instructions Settings: 0.25mm layer thickness, 2 Shells, 15% infill, 110mm/s print, 110mm/s jog. Making this thing: 1) Print one base.STL 2) Print one strut.STL 3) Glue the two pieces with a notch out of one end to the OUTSIDE of the base (a drop of super glue works just fine) near the center of the short side. Line the uprights up so that they are flush to the bottom face of the base. 4) Place the remaining piece through the middle of the spool and set into the notches on the uprights.
