The Sword of Power & Sword of Protection

I always wanted the He-Man sword when I was younger. Now "I Have The Power" to fix that, I can model it! Then I thought, why not a She-Ra sword too? Well of course! Coolest Princess ever! My lil' printer can handle it! Just need to whip up the model, slice it up a bit and print! SO many hours later, these are the models I came up with. I went with the original designs from the cartoon. Sure, the new version is pretty sweet looking but the old versions are just nostalgic. After the swords are printed and put together, they are about 27 inches long. Photos were taken when the pieces were not glued together yet. The She-Ra sword had very little warping. I Have The Power, now you can too! Can't wait to see all the 'Makes'! UPDATE 11/8/2013 - By request, added merged versions of each sword at 5 inches in length. Scale up or down. Previews of the model with Thingiview are for the mini versions. Instructions Printed in Grey ABS on my Afinia H-Series 3d Printer with these settings. The center top pieces I printed in Hollow fill which decreased time. The center bottom piece was printed solid so the sword has some nice weight to it. Printing the dowels on the sides will make for a stronger dowel. *****When putting the blade tip together, insert the cone shaped dowel into the Blade Middle then attach the Blade Tip. Lightly sand dowels if needed. If too loose, don't worry, glue will fill the space. ****If you download each file individually, you only need to download every part once since the He-Man and She-Ra center pieces are interchangeable. ***I've added my UP3 files for any UP!/Afinia printers. I found that printing the center bottom & top pieces with the smallest area to the bed left little to no warping versus printing the largest flat area down which caused delamination/warp. **I've included two zipped folders called LargeSingleModel for those who wish to try printing the main part of the sword in one go on a Delta 3D Printer or a Gigabot. Please double check the size, I couldn't verify that it was correct, the main part of the sword should be 540.761mm tall. *I've also put the entire set of files for each sword in their own zipped folder. Total print time approximately 27 hours 35 minutes for each sword. You could print at the highest resolution, it'll just add some time. Quality Normal Resolution 0.20mm Part Settings Angle: 30 Deg Surface: 2 Layers Fill: Solid Support Settings Dense: 2 Layers Space: 8 Lines Area: 3mm Angle: 30/40 Deg
