There are many ways to try and motivate yourself to complete the new years resolutions you set yourself every year. It’s always easier to complete a goal if it can be broken down into more manageable smaller tasks that seem less daunting, this trophy focuses on getting fit and healthy. This idea works in conjunction with fitness apps that are available for free. As an example we will discuss the possibility of using this idea with the tracking app Strava. Strava allows you to set challenges or goals based around cycling or running, which you can work towards throughout the year. Firstly you would set your challenge or goal, as an example we might set a goal to ride 200kms every month for a year. If you complete your goal within the month one single side of the dodecahedron is released to you as an STL file, which you can download and print. As you complete your smaller challenges you move towards your final goal, which would be the completed trophy. As you start to build the trophy your motivation is maintained as the unfinished trophy sitting on your desk constantly reminds you of your commitment to your new years resolution. The trophy design is a rhombic dodecahedron a 12-sided shape with a very interesting geometry. Each side of the solid represents one month of the year. The base of the trophy can be printed at the start of the year, as this was a cycling fitness example the base of the trophy is based of a bicycle chain. Both the base and the dodecahedron represent the geometrical freedom that 3D printing provides designers.
