A scan of the fragment of Tudor Floor uncovered beneath the Painted Hall at the Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich, with audio commentary by Jane Sidell, Inspector of Ancient Monuments at Historic England. Work on the new visitor centre below the Painted Hall led to the discovery of two rooms of Greenwich Palace, including a floor of lead-glazed tiles. Being set back from the river, these may have formed part of the service range or friary. One of the rooms was clearly subterranean and contains a series of unusual niches, which archaeologists believe may be ‘bee boles’ for the keeping of skeps (hive baskets) during the winter months when the bee colonies were hibernating Find out more about the Tudor remainsScanned by Thomas Flynn / Sketchfab for www.ornc.orgSee a scan of the site without the bridge.
