The Universal Spool Holder - Main Page

This is the main page for my universal spool holder design that's revolutionizing the way you store your filament. This comprehensive page contains every single file I've created and all its derivatives, making it a one-stop-shop for all your spool holding needs. In the instruction tab, you'll find detailed step-by-step guides on how to achieve the perfect fit for your spools. If you're still unsure, just head over to the YouTube video below where I explain everything in detail. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zG1CFx9aUIk&feature=youtu.be I've designed three distinct "sizes" (different length arms) for this spool holder to cater to various spool sizes. Each arm length is available in STL form, but to avoid confusion, I've created separate pages for each size category: Small, Standard, and Oversized. Once you watch the video or read the instructions, you'll know exactly what measurements to take for a flawless fit. As a bonus tip, if you're looking for an all-around "Universal" holder that fits most spools, simply print two "OverSized" Arms and 110mm Rods. This will give you a decent fit, although it won't be tailored to your specific spool size. If you want a more precise fit and a visually appealing design, I recommend choosing one of the three sizes. Here are the links to each size category: Small: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1001360 Standard: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:943563 OverSized: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1001359 This universal spool holder is a significant improvement over my previous design, which was old and relatively weak. I've completely redesigned the screws and spinner bolts to provide better tolerance for 3D printing. My old screws were fine if they were machined, but they didn't perform well when printed using 3D technology. Here's a list of what I've done in this new design: * Made both arms (the base and the spinner) 2.5mm shorter in height * Added fillets to every corner for smooth contours * Redesigned the bolt pattern for easier spinning * Increased the diameter of the screws with 45-degree chamfers for added strength * Redid all the threading for a smoother print * Added a hole on the lower Rods to hold filament ends in place This new design boasts a 33% decrease in total print time compared to my old design. On average, it should take around 6-7 hours to print an entire holder using standard .2mm layer settings. However, you can speed up the process by increasing the layer thickness to .3mm. Infill is not a significant concern with this design. A moderate infill of 15-20% will suffice, and if you want everything to look nice on the outside, just use three perimeter shells. This universal spool holder should fit most spools, except for Taulman brand spools. Don't worry; I've created a separate spool holder specifically designed for Taulman Spools. You can find the Taulman spool holder here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:938437 **I hope you find this spool holder useful. Thanks for reading, and enjoy your new filament management system!
