… if you never thought about boiling PLA prints in water, here’s why you probably should :-) At 100°C PLA prints become very flexible, but without layer delamination, such that they can be adapted to various surface structures by controlled pressure. Since PLA has a very low tendency of warping, the shape taken up at high temperatures will be preserved to an impressively high degree after cooling down. Combining different printing densities can be used to deliberately cause controlled curling in specific directions already when boiling the print for a couple of seconds. Please note: the above described findings are based on various non-scientifically conducted experiments with different PLA filament brands and are meant as an inspiration only.
