”…of the starship Ulysses, the latest in a line of Odyssey-class exploratory vessels. Its revised mission, in the wake of a diplomatic incident and the looming threat of an emperialistic posthumanity, is to evade capture and traverse the galaxy in search of a way to avert catastrophic war.” So here it is! My entry for the Sketchfab Frontier Challenge, conceptualized and completed in about five days. I’d wanted to make something along these lines for a while, as an experiment in detail and conveying a sense of scale without an abundance of complex geometry, and this month’s challenge was a great creative prompt. Inspiration for the overall design primarily came from Voyager, the Normandy, and the Protector from Galaxy Quest among others, but effort was taken to ensure it stood as its own design and I do hope that comes through.
