I was searching for a fun game to play with my young son, so we decided to try the classic block stacking game Jenga. However, my old set had long been lost, and when I checked Amazon.com, I found that the original game was still available, or so I thought. Since its introduction, it seems the blocks themselves haven't changed much, but the packaging has undergone a significant downgrade; the nice storage box and stacking jig that used to be included are now nothing more than a distant memory. So, I came to Thingiverse in search of an alternative solution. Unfortunately, the only design I found was somewhat lacking after I printed it out and gave it a try; the sliders didn't move smoothly, it felt a bit flimsy, the exterior had a lot of sharp edges, the blocks fit loosely, some support was required for a good print, and worst of all, they could fall out the sides if we tilted it at an awkward angle. That last issue was a major letdown for me. So, I decided to create my own solution using OpenSCAD; after all, "necessity is the mother of invention." This new design prints without support and doesn't require any manual adjustments to work smoothly but still snugly. I printed it at 0.2 layer height in PLA, but finer layers should also produce great results.
