WIth the exception of some T440s and T450s with an AUO panel, 14" 16:9 ThinkPads used to have rather bad Full HD display panels for a long time. Luckily, models with a 30-pin eDP display connector can be retrofitted with the new "Low Power" Full HD panels that Lenovo started shipping from the T490 series onwards. These panels feature 400 nits brightness and 99% coverage of the sRGB colour space while using significantly less power than older models. One of those panels (possibly the "best" one) is the Innolux N140HCG-GQ2. These retrofits have been successfully demonstrated for T460(s), T470(s) and T480(s) series but might also be applicable to earlier models, T series "p" workstations, X1 models and the P14s. The "old" panels were fixed inside the display lids using four screws. The Low Power panels, however, do not have screw mounts anymore, as they are snug-fit and fixed with flexible tape inside the very thin lids of new ThinkPads. For retrofits, one thus has to attach two brackets to the panel, providing the necessary screw holes. These 3D-printed brackets can be used for this purpose. Simply print them from ABS or PETG, as PLA might melt in summer. Attach some ultra-thin 3M 300LSE tape, fix them to your panel and upgrade your ThinkPad! I've provided some photos of the process to fit the panel inside a T480s. The procedure should be comparable for other ThinkPads!
