This versatile filter, inspired by Filament filters from CreativeTools and sfernald, utilizes a sponge to remove dust and debris prior to filament entry into the extruder. A major update (03-05-2015) provides a universal design with multiple connection ends for mix-and-match male and female configurations, accommodating 3mm or 1.75mm filaments. Improved threads ensure reliable performance without requiring high accuracy in printing. The male end features an expanded surface area and textured surfaces for easier operation. The 1.75mm connector hole has been enlarged to minimize drilling post-printing. Filters can be printed without supports, and various connection options are available: Male 1.75mm or 3mm filament, tube connector for tubing attachment, or a flat option for unconnected simple filters. Print with a layer height of .15mm or less and 30% infill or more; if needed, ream the male 1.75mm hole using a 2mm or 5/64" drill bit. The original file remains available for those who prefer it.
