This is a Three-Axis-Router. I designed it during my bachelor thesis. It acts as a 3D-printer and CNC-mill/drill, but other tools like a laser are possible. The printhead is detachable and can be replaced by a mount for a rotational tool. For milling I used a machine manufactured by proxxon with an extension, but by modifying the attached .scad-files you can design a mount for your own device. In the current configuration the machine reaches a maximal speed of 24mm/s. At higher speeds it loses steps. Furthermore it is very noisy. You can treat these problems by using better stepper drivers than I did. The frame has to be strengthened by MDF-plates. Otherwise it cannot resist the forces. Further instructions of assembly you will find in the dreiachsenrouter.scad. The machine should be able to handle a tool with the weight of 1kg. I use an Arduino-Mega2560 controller with a ramps-shield, running Marlin. The configuration is attached. As display mount I modified a design by Trigubovich. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1116163 My bachelor thesis can be found here: http://www.uni-oldenburg.de/svs/lehre/abschlussarbeiten/2017/entwurf-und-implementierung-eines-dreiachsenrouters/ It is written in german.
