This throttle pedal assembly design is a simple and inexpensive approach to the throttle challenge. It is a conventional approach that would appear much the same our present cars. The design is module. It can be attached to the vertical firewall as shown in drawing, it can be attached to a strut under the dashboard or attached to the angled surface of the floor plan. The important feature is the upper pivot or tube is located as shown. This can be achieved with minor changes to the angler position of the groove located on the tube, the angle of the “D” flats on the pedal rod that interface with the smartpot, and changes to the torsion spring. As shown in the drawing “THROTTLE PEDAL LAYOUT” there is 300 mm (1’) minimum clearance. This should provide plenty foot room. The pedal assembly pivots in two places. The lower one will pivot in one direction only duo to a stop protruding from the bottom of the pedal. This will allow uses by people with smaller feet with no problems. The spring is for comfort and nose, but may not be needed. Note the notch in the tube will limit the movement of the pedal rod to 40 deg, o protect the smartpot from over travel.
