In cold conditions is it difficult without this part. the clamping force is applied with a self tapping screw ø2,2x7mm I use this part on my Bushnell Elite Tactical ERS 3,5-21x50 and on my Bushnell Elite Tactical XRS 4,5-30x50 for the EliteTactical 3-12x40 a smaller version is here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3554589
