I embedded a thumbprint pattern onto a sphere's surface - the sphere is 1 mm thick yet the pattern is 1 mm extra (on both outside and inside) = 3mm This makes the pattern thicker to let light go thru. The light rendered pic "doesn't do it justice" , the pattern in reality is darker and light only goes thru the 1 mm surface. At the bottom there is a cut-hole for the bulb fixture - adjust it as needed. Such lamp shades are usually 3d printed with Polymide/White Nylon.
