Thyroid Releasing Hormone

Thyroid Releasing Hormone

sketchfab

An example of a small polypeptide signalling hormone known as Thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH). It is produced by the hypothalamus as part of the thyroid signalling cascade. The action of TRH binding its receptor then stimulates the release of thyrotropin (thyroid-stimulating hormone or TSH) from the anterior pituitary. The hormone was chosen as an example since it contains multiple types of peptides (amides) within a relatively small structure. The molecule exhibits the three classifications of amide (primary, secondary, and tertiary).
