TIE Interceptor

TIE Interceptor

thingiverse

Our project is a replica of a ship called a TIE Interceptor from "Star Wars". The ship is a sphere with cylinders on both sides. There are two wings with four pieces each, which are two triangular planes, one square plane, and one cube attaching them to the cylinders. How I Designed This How We Made the Tie Interceptor We started with the plane shape. First we moved the bottom right corner to the right on the line to keep it straight. Then move the left corner slightly to the left, doing the same thing you did to the right to keep it straight. Finally, move the top right corner on the axis to the left. Once you are done, this part should look like one of the parts of the wing of the Tie Interceptor, with the right corner far out, the left corner slightly to the left, and the top part smaller than when you started with a plane. Once you tweak this piece until you like how it looks, duplicate it time to create a total of 2 of these pieces. Next, create another plane. Move the right side over to make this plane a rectangle. Move one of the rectangles to the left side of the working surface. Place it in the air so that you have enough room on top and on bottom for the parts of the wings you made first. Once you have this in position, place one wing piece on top and on bottom, making sure the longer parts are facing the same way for both of them. This will require rotating it so that this is possible. The longer, flatter side of the original wing pieces should be touching the rectangle. Once these are in place, rotate them so that they are facing the right side of the screen. About a 20 degree angle. When you rotate it, you will have to remove the wing pieces so that they are touching again. The top half should be the same as the bottom half. Once your wing looks like the Tie Interceptor wing, join the three pieces and duplicate it. Rotate it so that all wings are rotated towards each other, and all longer parts are facing the same way. There should be a wing on the right and left side of the area. Once you have this, create an ico sphere, make it to scale with the wings, and move it in between the wings, towards the back. It should be centered on the rectangle in the middle of the wings. Once you have done this and it is to scale, create a cylinder. Make it longer and skinnier, and this will go in between the sphere and wings. It should be touching both so that they connect. Once you have one, duplicate it and if your sphere is centered, the duplicated cylinder should fit perfectly on the other side of the sphere. Once you have this done, rotate the sphere so that the top faces forward. Then, dissolve the vertices by going to the second ring near the middle, and from the top line dissolving three vertices, then leaving one, and dissolving another three. Repeat this going all the way around. When everything is in place and edited, join everything so you can move your entire Tie Interceptor at once.
