The crossover nobody asked for, but the one I couldn't get out of my head. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In an alternate reality, Earth is occupied by the Galactic Empire after a joint offensive along side the Principality of Zeon. The TIE/z-2 or "TIE Zaku" was a joint project between the allied forced to combine Imperial technology with advanced mobile suit technology, while maintaining some Zeonic design aesthetics. While preforming similarly to a standard TIE/ln, there are a couple noteworthy changes to the design. The first change was to that of the weapons systems. The TIE/z-2 moved from Imperial laser technology to Zeonic ballistics, while this was mostly convenience, (as modifying the Zaku Machine Gun to fit a TIE frame was relatively inexpensive and mass stores of ammunition had already been produced) it allowed pilots who already had experience with ballistic weapons in space to smoothly transition to the new vehicle. Second was micro-thrusters on the wings, these thrusters provided the pilot a means of precise maneuvering that would be crucial against highly mobile Federation mobile suits. Due do the inefficiencies of materials, the Twin Ion Engines in which TIE fighters get their names was ultimately scrapped at the eleventh hour in favor of larger booster engine. The fuel for these is kept inside the rounded armor on the wing pylons. The final change was the addition of Monoeye Targeting directly behind the cockpit glass, and the addition of a 180-degree view screen on the interior. These were the most expensive additions to the unit, but were highly necessary. While the TIE/ln could accurately target and assess a single fighter, the Monoeye Targeting system allowed for up to ten targets to be locked, analyzed, and assigned priority, (though this function was slaved to a command unit within the squadron). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So for some reason, I can't seem to get the Remix function to work, so here is who deserves credit for coming up with the various components that I used to bash this thing into existence: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4534787 - Tubes https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3780592 - Misc https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3080043 - Guns https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4604113 - Wing Thrusters https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2256033 - Tie Fighter https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4678706 - Reciever peg (thick wall)
