The Tiger Cave is a spectacular rock-cut Hindu temple complex situated in the charming hamlet of Saluvankuppam, just near Mahabalipuram in Tamil Nadu, India. Its name originates from the striking carvings of tiger heads on the mouth of a cave that forms part of this magnificent complex. The Tiger Cave is renowned as one of the impressive Mahabalipuram rock-cut temples constructed by the ingenious Pallavas in the 8th century AD. This incredible site is located on the scenic Bay of Bengal coast and has become a beloved picnic spot and favorite tourist destination. The temple is meticulously maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
