Tiki Tap Handle (Hex Nut Base)

Tiki Tap Handle (Hex Nut Base)

thingiverse

This is a remix of Shapespeare's tiki tap handle that is designed for "printing-in" a 3/8-16 hex nut rather than threading in an insert post-print. The nut used must have a wall-to-wall width of less than 15mm and a thickness of 6mm or less. I used Everbilt hex nuts from Home Depot. To achieve this, you must alter your G-code or command your slicer to pause the print right before the layer that bridges the hexagonal pocket shown in the photos. When the print pauses, press the hex nut into the pocket. Check to make sure the top face of the hex nut is below or flush with the surrounding walls before resuming the print, or else you risk the print nozzle colliding with the hex nut.
