Tippmann 98 to AR Buttstock Adapter

Tippmann 98 to AR Buttstock Adapter

I was rebuilding my Tippmann 98 and I thought "man I would love if this thing had a buttstock". My buddy who I built my Proxxon Vise Adapter and my AR lower milling jig for owed me a favor (or two) and happened to have a spare AR style buttstock sitting on his shelf. A couple of hours of tinkering and a few prototypes later, I came up with this adapter that allows you to screw a standard AR buttstock into the back of a Tippmann 98 paintball gun. I made two styles, one with a "tail" (no idea what it is called) that is used with the locking plate for the buttstock to keep it upright, and one without. If you use the tailed version, it will interfere with the guns grip, but I already made the design, so I am including it anyhow. With the un-tailed version you can tighten down the retaining nut on the buttstock enough to keep the buttstock upright for paintball games (it only feels like war). Keep in mind that with the buttstock screwed in, this adapter is going to take a lot of torque, so print it hot (to promote layer adhesion), slow, and at high resolution. Print with supports. I did make the tolerances on these pretty tight, since slop or play may effect the marker's operation, durring post print cleanup just heat up the rings that go into the back of the marker (you need to take the marker apart to use this) and spin the adapter in the grooves to make a tight fit. There is a tab on the adapter that should keep it from spinning, so be careful to align it correctly at the top, and do not flatten it when heat fitting. I also used a little bit of teflon tape on the buffer tube threads, just to tighten things up as much as possible. Sorry for the sloppy prints in the pictures, my tip is worn and I am waiting for my new on now, but these still work just fine. Also print at the upper end of your filament to get the best layer adhesion.
