I did not want to open my PCB housing (I tried, but it was not possible without destroying the lid) so I attached the smoother holders to the X and Y axis near the stepper motor with a double sided adhesive tape. Like JoaoHenriques recommends, smash the PLA pins with heated metal (like a screwdriver tip) after mounting the smoother to hold it in place.
