The forward assist for the PSG-1. Designed by me, based on the Tokyo Marui PSG-1 forward assist. Since I had to buy an entire PSG-1 just to get a hold of the missing part for mine, I wanted to use the time to design it for others who may also be missing it. I have two versions: a version with the piece as one solid object and a version with the "face" split from the shaft. I used the latter to help avoid dealing with tricky print supports that also would impact the look of the finished product. To complete it, I glued the pieces together. I also have two separate parts: the forward assist and a little rod piece that helps guide/hold the forward assist. Unfortunately, this does mean needing to disassemble the upper of the PSG-1 to get to. In theory, the bottom part of the shaft can be made longer and wider to wedge into the hole and keep it there for appearance. However, I opted to have a pseudo-functional piece. After printing, all that is needed is the spring! 4.5mm-7mm OD seemed to work (0.184"-0.25"). The one I personally ended up using was from a previous McMaster Carr order (part 96565K38) and was cut to a length that didn't apply too much pressure at the "resting" position.
