I modeled these rails after the FT-817/818 rails commonly used for full duplex satellites. As far as I know the TM-V71A is the most compact 50W full duplex mobile radio and is commonly used for satellite operation. I wanted to take mine hiking for SOTA so wanted it to have some protection in my backpack and be easier to operate while walking around and when there is no good place to set it up.

Print two of these (probably in PETG if you're going to use them outdoors) and you can screw them in with some M4 thumbscrews for easy removal when you don't need them.

This setup fits nicely into a backpack (I protect mine with a Domke camera wrap) and can hang around my neck with a camera strap and with a 3Ah Bioenno battery in my back pocket I can operate FM satellite passes with either an Arrow (diplexer needed) or Elk antenna. This setup obviously isn't quite as portable as an HT but has a lot more range when you're trying to make long distance simplex contacts.
