I wanted to make the Anet A8 quieter and TMC2208s are a direct replacement of the original A4988, so... TMC2208 drivers can be found here: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005097899535.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.40.2a4b3696TVF9Cu&gatewayAdapt=glo SMD Trimmers can be found here: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001933978988.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.16.2a4b3696TVF9Cu&gatewayAdapt=glo The reference I followed is in this link: https://gzhls.at/blob/ldb/c/9/4/2/ffa39ccd8323907ea35953b5f5e3ef9dfd3c.pdf TMC2208 and A4988 have the same QFN28 socket and the same pinout exept for pins 11 and 12. On the A4988 these two pins are digital inputs and are both connected to Vcc 5V. On the 2208s these two pins are digital outputs and need to be left open if unused. It means that pin 11 and 12 ways have to be cut. See picture. TMC2208s need a 22nF capacitor between CPO and CPI and not a 100nF like A4988s and they require a different Vref, hence some capacitors and resistors need to be changed. LIST OF CHANGES FOR V1.7 MAINBOARD: X axis: change original C3 (100nF) to 22nF, change original R7 (15kOhm) to 22k or a 50k trimmer. Y axis: change original C16 (100nF) to 22nF, change original R16 (15k) to 22k or a 50k trimmer. Z axis: change original C12 (100nF) to 22nF. Z axis already has a trimmer, just adjust it. Extruder: change original C53 (100nF) to 22nF, change original R40 (15k) to 22k or a 50k trimmer. Before soldering the trimmers adjust them to about 22kOhm, this will give a 0,97V Vref for X axis, Y axis and the Extruder. Adjust the original Z axis trimmer (VR1) so that Vref is around 1,15V. Cut pin 11 and 12 ways on all the drivers. That's it, with these Vref printer works fine and is much quieter.
