Enlarged the holes in the top and bottom plate for a quicker fit.The bottom is still a tight fit, but with minimal trimming if none at all. Light hammer taps it in.Top plate just needs a quick trim on the two inner corners of the T holes. For the top T hole connection, trim .5mm from each end of the pillar piece. I didn't end up making the hole wide enough. CA glue top plate joints just in case, but it's still a tight fit.
