I made this for an Ikea Laundry Basket. It tops the rods that support the basket so that the rods don't poke through the fabric. Even with the plastic covers, the rods poke through, so I made a wide top for the fabric to wrap around. You could use it as a 5mm rod bottom too, to support a rod of any other kind.
