Tork Matic Paper Towel Dispenser - Roll Adapter

thingiverse

This is an adapter for Tork Matic manual paper towel dispensers, which allows the dispenser to use regular 5.9 cm core inner diameter rolls, instead of the expensive H1 rolls. The rolls I use instead are the Tork 129107 basic paper 2 ply, which are sold in Costco for much cheaper than the H1 rolls which the dispenser is otherwise limited to using. These rolls are about 66% cheaper than the H1 rolls, but they are thinner and perforated, which can be annoying when pulling the paper though the dispenser. Unperforated rolls would be better. Other similarly sized rolls should also be fine. The important details are 18 cm roll width, 19 cm roll diameter, and 5.9 cm core inner diameter. The roll must have a carboard tube core. This adapter contains 4 pieces: * **Tork Dispenser Holder** - Replaces the left arm of the dispenser's roll holder. * **Tork 5.9cm Centre Holder** - Holds the left side of the roll, and is screwed down to clamp into the above piece. * **Tork Holder Nut** - Screws onto the above piece to clamp it in place. * **Tork Dispenser 5.9cm Adaptor** - Fits over the centre retaining clip on the right arm of the dispenser's roll holder. ### Printing All the files should already be aligned correctly for printing. Supports shouldn't be necessary on any parts, however there are some pretty steep overhangs in the circular pieces. A printer with good part cooling should be okay, but some might need supports here. I printed the very top section of the *Tork Dispenser Holder.stl* file (the part where the screw holes are) with a few more walls than the rest of the model, using the Cura support blocker tool, and Per Model Settings to modify settings for overlaps. This is to give the screw posts more strength and avoid them snapping when screwing the screws into it. Print the *Tork Holder Nut.stl* model with something like 0.16mm layer height, in order to help the threads form smoothly. The rest should be fine with 0.2mm layer height. ### Assembly 1. Remove the screws which affix the left arm of the dispenser (looking from the front), from the back of the dispenser. 2. Remove the arm, and replace it with the Tork Dispenser Holder model. 3. Carefully screw the screws back in, taking extra care not to overtighten. 4. Inside the dispenser, push the Tork Dispenser 5.9cm Adaptor model over the retaining clip on the right arm. Align the slope with the thinner end at the front. 5. Get your replacement roll of paper and put the Tork 5.9cm Centre Holder model into the left side of the core. 6. Screw on the nut, but only enough so that the end of the bolt post is flush with the top of the nut. 7. Pushing the right ride retaining clip back, and aligning the bolt post part of the centre holder into the notch of the new arm, slide the roll into place. The aligning notch on the centre holder should be at the top, with the bolt part at the bottom. 8. Tighten the nut. 9. Ensure the roll can rotate without too much friction. 10. Thread the paper into the dispenser and test.
