Torso of a Hellenistic Ruler or Hero

Torso of a Hellenistic Ruler or Hero

myminifactory

Acquired in 1897 in Venice, from Giustiniani collectionMarble, Roman, after original around 160 - 140 BC The folds of the cloak draped over the left arm and shoulder emphasize the nakedness of the muscular body. The outstretched right arm may have once held a horse by its headcollar of a sceptre. Such a pose would have suited both a hero (Dioscurus?) and a Hellenistic king. This object is part of "Scan The World".
