Torso of the Falling Man

Torso of the Falling Man

myminifactory

Rodin turned the torso of the Falling Man on The Gates of Hell into a work in its own right. It has all the power of the battered fragment of Hermes from the Parthenon. Rodin admired the subtle torsion in the body of the messenger god whose head, now missing, once looked back over his shoulder. This was scanned at The 'Rodin and the art of ancient Greece' exhibition at The British Museum, London (26th April - 29th July 2018). The work originates from the Musée Rodin, Paris, where it is on permanent display.
