Tortilla/Taco press

CountertopChallenge This will press your dough for homemade tacos, tortillas or the chips for chips and salsa. I wanted to make this for myself and noticed this contest. The pictures are from a proof of concept print, printed on the lowest quality settings. The files ending with "V2" are version 2 of the project. I did not print or test the second version. The first version works fine but needs a little cleanup at the hinges. There are small adjustments to the V2 files. There is more room around the hinges in the base unit, and instead of a round handle the rectangle is used for the entire handle. The longer square handle is easier to press. I do not have a 3D printer, I would like to thank the Fayetteville Free Library for the use of their 3D printers. http://www.fflib.org/make/fab-lab. When filling your tacos be sure to use http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:704856 which is also entered in the Countertop Challenge contest. Instructions The base is the bottom section, the top goes on the lower hinge, the handle is on the top hinge. I used supports for the top and the handle. The base did not need supports. I used rafts for all items because I always use rafts. Because of the pressure used to press you might want to use more fill and more shells. The lowest quality settings on a Makerbot Replicator 2 worked fine for this proof of concept print. I think the print could be a little larger but it might not fit on your print bed. On the Replicator 2 you can try scaling all items to 110%. I would also look into getting food grade enamel paint and give the press two coats. I have two versions of the handle and the base. The second version has V2 at the end of the file name. You need to print out one or the other. Version 2 is untested. (note: after testing version one I would recommend printing version 2 of the handle. I am keeping it active because of the contest)
