This allows you to install a washcloth / towel bar in the bathroom between the mounts after the mounts are already attached to the shower wall. You just put these on the ends of the square profile towel bar and then turn the bar to lengthen the extensions until it gets snug.

You will need 2 sets of the TowelBarExtension-outside-v2.stl and TowelBarExtension-inside-v2.stl.
***IMPORTANT: Use your slicer to mirror the second set so that the threads are reversed so that twisting one direction makes both sides unscrew.

You will need to make sure the towel bar ends are rounded and/or short enough to spin when the bar is in place. The extensions are square and will not turn when you rotate the towel bar rod causing them to unthread and tighten up between the mounts.

The people who built our house many years ago forgot to put the bar in so tried to cheat and put one in after the mounts were secured to the shower wall. They made it just long enough to need a little force to get it in but it would still fall out at times. This solves that problem and allows us to put the bar in and then twist it to tight it (elongate the length).

Do not use supports for the Towel Bar main files or the threads will be ruined. This does require a well setup printer to print the threads without supports. One of the tools 'Tool-TowelBarChuck.stl' does require supports touching build plate.

The tools are not needed if the towel bar spins between the mounts (cut the bar short enough). I wanted to keep the bar as long as possible so that less of the threads were exposed to water so I created the tools to make it easier to sand the ends to make them rounded so that the bar would go further into the mounts and still spin. I put the chuck into a drill and put it into one end of the towel bar. The spinner holder I put around the towel bar so that you can hold it while the bar spins and then use sandpaper or a file to taper the ends of the towel bar.

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

Wanhao

Printer:

Duplicator9

Rafts:

No

Supports:

No

Resolution:

0.2

Infill:

20%

Filament:
3D Solutech PLA Yellow

Category: Bathroom
