Towel Hook w/ Hidden Screws

Floating (no screws visible) wall hook suitable for hanging towels in a bathroom or bedroom. These are in use here and have been popular with the rest of the family. I hope you find the design useful also. Instructions follow -- you will also find these as instructions.txt in the download. -- There are some great hooks out there but they tend to be a bit industrial- looking with exposed screws. I wanted something that I could use in our bathroom without causing too many complaints from the non-3d maniacs in the house. The design is quite simple and there are two parts. Both are intended to be printed without supports. All angles are 45 degrees for this reason. You will get some stringing on the underside of the hook print, but the design takes this into account (there's a bit of extra room between it and the mount and it actually helps it maintain a grip). I have printed mine on a Flashforge Adventurer 3 using PLA. Objects are centered on the bed according to what's in contact with the Z plane. For print settings I have used: hook.stl: 75% 3d infill, shell count 3 under "perimeter", although 2 works. No supports. mount.stl: I print these at 100%. They aren't big and you want it strong. No supports. If you find the mount is too loose or too tight, you can play with the scaling on the two objects. On my printer with PLA, it is perfect. For mounting screws I have used using #8 1.25" drywall screws. * To mount the hook: - Figure out where you want the thing, and screw the mount to the wall with just one screw, fairly tight. (You will want the two screws towards the TOP of the mount). - Slide the hook onto the mount and adjust it so that it is straight. - Remove the hook again, and put the second screw in, tighten everything down well. - Enjoy your new hook! -- jmr
