Towel Rail Extender

My bathroom has a rail that can fit only one towel. What if you want to dry 2 towels? Well you could buy and install a second towel rail (assuming you have space in your bathroom to fit another), or you could attach a second rail to the first one! This design prints in 3 pieces that you screw together. You will need to print 2 sets - one for each end of the rail. A simple rail that matches my existing rail is quite cheap at a hardware shop. This design is customisable to suit various parameters. You can change: * The diameter of the existing rail * The diameter of the rail you are adding * The lengths of the different pieces * The diameter of the screw holes (currently designed to suit m3 screws) * Various other things The piece that rests against the wall holds the extension piece up. Use your Pythagoras to work out the length of the wall piece. The piece I fitted was at a 60 degree angle to vertical. With the distance from the wall and the angle, you should be able to calculate the correct length for the wall piece. If you are not sure, maybe print a couple of wall pieces of different lengths. If the only thing you change is the length of the wall piece, you will find that different sized wall pieces will fit with the other pieces interchangeably. Allow a bit of tolerance for the rail diameters. You don't need to make it too tight, as the wall piece will help hold it up. Because I didn't want nasty looking open ended metal piping in my bathroom I also designed some [end caps](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4211009) to go on the tube. Assembly: Print 2 sets of brackets, sized to fit both your existing rail, and the new rail. You will also need the actual rail, and 4 m3 screws (and nuts) for each bracket. Attach the wall piece and the middle piece to the existing rail and screw together. Make sure you have the wall piece pointing the right way. Once you have 2 sets attached, then fit the extra rail, and screw on the last pieces.
