on our beautiful summer holiday my son found a empty body of a toy car. as always he collect such things and wants to have as much as possible toys. he asked me, if we can fix this car with the 3d printer. I accepted the challenge.

I didn't know how exactly the car should be on the bottom, so I created my own version of it. I decided to make a movable suspension and I tried hard for a version with steering possibilities. After the main model was done, there was an issue, that the car didn't stand straight and by playing you had always to hold the car straight. I thought further and created a flexible spring for the suspensions, that fitted the chassis.

In the end, the solution was pretty good. To drive left or right you tilt the car and like on a skateboard the front and rear wheels turn for the direction. unlike skateboards the car tilt on the outside of the curve, I found that more convinient to the physics of stadium trucks, which bends very wide on curves. it also challenge your brain, because it is the opposite way in you.

my son was so excited, he took the car always with him :)

to assembly you need some nails with 1.4 mm diameter, you can glue them in the chassis

for the spring you need some small screws. as the spring followed the first design, there are no holes in the chassis, so you need to drill them. sure, you don't have the car body. I designed with a low poly reconstruction from pictures, so there is a version with the body to print. Maybe I find some time to make a whole nice new car for this kind of chassis.
