TR8x2 Bearing Press

TR8x2 Bearing Press

This is a simple bearing press that uses an 8 mm lead screw with 3D printed handles containing brass lead screw nuts. The lead screw nuts I used have M3 threaded holes and were attached to the handles using M3x6 mm socket cap screws. I made this press to replace the bearings on my full suspension mountain bike. For most frame bearings the 100 mm lead screw worked well. I wanted to also use the press for wheel bearings in the future so I also ordered a 300 mm screw to support up to 197 mm fat bike axle widths. Using the 300 mm screw for tighter operations invovles a lot of threading handles that gets tedious. Having a few lengths to right-size the job is inexpensive and recommended. For my build I used: [ReliaBot 2PCs Lead Screw Brass Nut (Acme Thread, 2mm Pitch, 1 Start, 2mm Lead) with 4-M3 Holes for Diameter 8mm T8 Tr8x2 Lead Screw of 3D Printer Z Axis](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08DJ7G98D/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) [ReliaBot 300mm T8 Tr8x2 Lead Screw and Brass Nut (Acme Thread, 2mm Pitch, 1 Start, 2mm Lead) for LCD DLP SLA 3D Printer and CNC Machine Z Axis](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07R38L317/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) I used Super Glue to attach the flush washer to each handle and used the press itself to hold the caps in position for gluing. Make sure there is no glue on the outside faces of the washers when doing this. I used PETG for these parts and am satisifed with the strength and durability. I do not recommend PLA and have no experience with PLA+ or other filaments. I also printed some simple through hole drifts and extractor cups for 6801/6901 bearings. I'm still fine tuning those parts and will likely publish an OpenSCAD configurable part when ready. In my pictures I printed the press handles and insertion drift sets in blue. Extractor studs and cups were printed in red. I used 2.00 mm walls (5 perimeters of 0.4 mm width), 20% infill and 0.28 mm layer height.
