Train Coach Design (792511)

Thomas the Train has been a popular toy product for several years, its simple appearance has been well appreciated by the masses. The intent of this project was to redesign the traditional steam engine train to resemble modern day transportation. Initially, the inside structure of the train was reversed engineered and modelled in Solidworks. The surfacing option of Solidworks was incorporated to create the exterior coach, which was built upon the initial structure. This process was tedious and required a lot of patience, which often resulted in the need to start over. The design of this model was inspired by Intercity Trains and the GO Transit. Overall, the experience of working on a project like this has been educational and enjoyable.
