Working model of how a Riding Mower Transmission (Transaxle) works. This design was and is still used on thousands of riding mower brands. The pull knob on the side simulates how the unit is shifted from forward to reverse. The speed of the mower is controlled by variable speed pulleys not part of the this model. The model parts can be 3D Printed and assembled with various screws. I used acrylic rod stock in my working 3D-Printed model for the various shafts needed. It's difficult to 3D-print precision round stock. The acrylic material is inexpensive and fairly easy to work with. It can be machined, drilled & tapped, etc. if care is taken. See my "Riding Mower" project for what the actual transaxle looks like. All files created using Inventor 2013 and are included in the "Master.zip" file. A step file of the assembly is also included. See the .avi file for a short video simulation of the gearing movement.
