This listing includes 2 pieces for easy printing with no supports. This is very strong when fitted. There are two options for the top section, both included: 1 lets you reuse the rear end of your shell in place of the cut section, the other replaces the cut section with a 3D printed panel (its self explanatory when you look at the 3d models). Fitting is very straightforward but quite involved, and cutting bodyshells can be fiddly, but I think its worth the effort. You will need to measure your parts after you've printed them to get the most accurate measurements for cutting your body shell to your specific printed parts (since every printer prints differently). The cut line on you defender body should be somewhere in the region of 84mm from the top and 144mm from the back (+/- 2mm dependant on your specific prints). Its up to you whether you cut the roll cage off at the back or not, some people have left it fully intact with the pickup rear and it looks pretty good. I chose to cut mine down and reuse some of the cut roll cage pieces to make gussets at the back (fixed them in place with epoxy resin). Test fit your printed parts against your cut body shell to make sure everything fits as expected. I found it easier to remove the rear wheel arch and door brace from inside the bodyshell. This allowed it to be manipulated into position a little easier. When you are happy that everything fits nicely, you can lay a 3mm bead of clear grab adhesive (or any strong flexible adhesive) around the inside of the groove on the printed bed part and position it on your bodyshell. Allow the adhesive to set enough that the bed wont move on the shell anymore. Now you can lay a 3mm bead of adhesive on the upper cab-back printed part. When fitting this piece, angle it backwards slightly to allow the bottom location notches to line up and then tilt it towards the front of the bodyshell and into position. If you chose to print the top part that reuses the rear end of the defender body, you can now also glue that piece into position. Some filing/sanding may be required on the printed parts, depending on the quality of your prints. Obviously, you can choose to prime/paint the parts or just print them in your desired material/colour and use as is. Video coming soon! Subscribe to www.youtube.com/GaminGit to stay up to date.
