tree crown (parametric)

tree crown (parametric)

thingiverse

This concept was originally developed for use on OSM, where 3D parameters can be defined specifically for any natural=tree marker on the map. The tree's crown is made up of ellipses positioned around a central axis, with each vertical layer represented by a row and sampled into a regular polygon, where the number of sides in the polygon corresponds to the number of columns in that particular row. The data values used represent offsets from the reference ellipsoid, allowing for an irregular shape to be given to the tree. The intention is to begin with a standard crown shape and then add any necessary irregularities as needed. To edit this design, simply open OpenSCAD and adjust the values of the crown according to your preferences.
