The machine can cut a hole and hot plate weld any 1 of 5 accessories (2 being similar hence only 4 stations) onto any one of 8 positions on one part and 3 positions on another (not shown) and in any order. The cutter is a trepanning style cutter with one blade and a centre pin. The cutter retains the slug and ejects it during the hot plate process, down into a chute with a scrap bin at the bottom. The hot plate is Teflon coated to prevent 'stringing' of the melted plastic during the separation part of the hot plate cycle. There are 4 servo drives used to achieve the main movements on the machine. X1 (left to right) & Z1 (up & down) on the top part of the machine and X2 (left to right) and Y1 (front to back) on the bottom. The bottom tool can accommodate 2 jigs, one large for the 8 position part (as in the video) and a smaller jig for the other variant with 3 positions. The bottom tool manipulates the jigs into the required orientation, along with the X2 & Y1 servo drives to enable the part to be cut and have the accessory welded to it. The tool can tip front to back 90 degrees and also achieve a middle 45 degree position. As seen in the video there is also a 90 degree turn table on the tool to enable the end positions on the larger part to be accommodated.
