The Tang Tri-colored pottery was invented in the Tang dynasty over 1300 years ago. 三彩馬為盛唐時期的產物，馬身軀整體上黃褐釉；馬具垂飾、馬鞍、鞍褥為綠釉；馬鬃留白釉。 馬是唐代最重要的交通工具，又受到社會尚武精神的影響，愛馬、豢養名馬蔚為上流社會的風氣。 三彩馬為國立歷史博物館之重要典藏。
